It provides access to most advanced Censys protocol data and the complete certificate dataset, with regex query support for precise filtering. Starter is purchased and managed through the Censys self-serve portal without a sales engagement, making it accessible for project-based or exploratory internet intelligence work.
Two named Collections allow researchers to define and persistently track asset groups — IP ranges, domains, or query-based groupings — without repeated manual searches. Webhooks deliver automated notifications when tracked assets change, enabling lightweight monitoring pipelines without polling the API. Starter suits independent researchers working beyond free public lookups, and small teams running preliminary assessments or proof-of-concept evaluations before an enterprise Search or Core engagement.
Protocol and Certificate Data
Starter provides access to most advanced Censys protocol data — services, banners, TLS details, and host attributes — alongside the complete certificate dataset. Regex query support enables precise filtering against certificate fields and other text-based attributes, giving researchers the same query capability available to enterprise Search subscribers within the credit allocation.
Collections and Tracking
Two named Collections let researchers define persistent asset groups and monitor them without re-running searches manually. Collections can be built from IP ranges, domain lists, ASNs, or arbitrary CenQL queries, and are updated automatically as the Internet Map refreshes, ensuring the tracked set always reflects the current state of the internet.
Webhooks and Notifications
Webhooks push change notifications to an external endpoint when assets in a tracked Collection change — a host goes up or down, a service changes, or a certificate is reissued. This allows researchers and small teams to build lightweight monitoring pipelines on top of Censys data without polling the API on a schedule.
Self-Serve and Credit-Based
Starter is purchased through the Censys self-serve portal using credits, with no minimum commitment or enterprise contract required. This makes it suitable for project-based work, pre-sales evaluations, competitive assessments, or small teams that need structured internet intelligence access without the overhead of a formal procurement process.
